Questions About Our Services

Questions about our team are answered on the About FAQs page.

Therapeutic Consulting and Placement

  • How do we start?

With a complimentary conversation. We’ll learn more about you and your family, as well as how you got where you are today. If we’re the right fit, we’ll talk about how to move forward. If we’re not, we’ll point you in the right direction.

  • How fast can you move if this is urgent?

Some situations run on a 24-to-96-hour timeline, and we can work quickly but thoroughly when needed. The only thing that changes in a crisis is the speed — the work itself is the same.

  • What kinds of programs do you recommend?

It depends entirely on the client. Nature-based therapy, residential treatment, therapeutic boarding schools, programs treating primary addictions (substances, technology, or gaming), transitional living for young adults, and outpatient support fall in the continuum of what we may recommend. We match to the clients needs rather than to a category.

  • Are you therapists?

No. We are not therapists, though we do bring a clinical lens to this work. We work alongside your child’s treatment team, not in place of it.

  • Do you work with parents directly?

Yes. Coaching parents is an inherent part of the work, whether parents are considering therapeutic resources or placement for their child, or navigating a school search. With young adult clients, we work with both the parents and the young adult, who has agency in their own process. If a family needs stand-alone parent coaching, we refer to trusted colleagues in the field.

  • Our child is in a program and it isn’t going well. Can you help?

Yes. Families come to us mid-placement fairly often. We will engage in the discovery process to assess your child’s needs and how the program is addressing them, or not. We will advocate on your child’s behalf to encourage the program to better meet their needs. If the program is unable to, or if it was not a good fit for your child, we will help guide your family to an alternative program that is a better fit.

  • What happens with school while our child is in treatment?

If you have a child or adolescent in residential treatment, school will be a part of their day. The amount of academics depends on the type of program. The program will coordinate academics with your child’s current school. We help with that coordination, including communicating with your child’s school to protect their standing. For young adult clients in residential treatment, school (vocational or college) may be part of their daily schedule as well, depending on their readiness and goals.

  • Does the district have to pay for a therapeutic placement?

Sometimes, though, it depends heavily on your district, your documentation, and your child’s situation. We can tell you whether it’s worth pursuing and help you connect with an attorney who can evaluate your case. We’re not attorneys and don’t provide legal representation.

One family's story

She Helped Save Our Granddaughter’s Life

“Her compassion and knowledge guided us through the perfect placement.”

Laura C., Grandmother

“Jennifer from Crossbridge literally helped us save our granddaughter‘s life. We were in a crisis when we were referred to her. Her compassion and knowledge guided us through the perfect placement for our granddaughter during this very stressful time. Our granddaughter has now graduated from a 14 month program transitioned into a fabulous boarding school with Jennifer guiding us throughout. She is still advocating for our granddaughter at her current school. Her communication and knowledge with all facilities around the country was impressive to say the least. Cannot say enough. She is the Best!!”

Educational Consulting, School Search and Placement

  • What’s the difference between concierge placement and the School Search Workshop?

Concierge is full service: we do the work with you, from our first conversation through enrollment and ensuring your student has the supports they need. The Workshop is for families who want to drive their own search with our framework and guidance behind them. Workshop content is included for concierge clients.

  • When should we start?

While we can execute a school placement in a very short timeframe (30 days), families have more options when they start earlier.  We recommend beginning the search a full year before your anticipated enrollment date, and even longer for students with learning disabilities or other special considerations.

  • Do you only place students in boarding schools?

No. We help families evaluate public, private, and charter school options, including day schools, boarding schools, therapeutic schools, homeschools, and out-of-the-box programming.

  • Our child has a learning difference. Can you still help?

It’s most of what we do. Learning differences, neurodivergence, anxiety, students who’ve had a hard year – our goal is always to help you find the right fit for your child.

  • Do you help with applications, essays, and interviews?

Yes, for concierge clients and VIP Workshop clients. The Workshop teaches you how to do it yourself.

  • Can you help with an IEP or 504 during the search?

Yes. We help you understand what your child’s documentation says and what supports they would be eligible for. We provide you with templates for school outreach and can attend meetings with you to help ensure accommodations are met. In some cases, we refer clients to educational attorneys when the work is beyond the scope of what we can support.

  • Will a school reject our child because of an IEP?

The right one won’t. Part of our job is knowing which schools do a really good job of supporting learning differences, where learning differences are not considered a deficit.

  • Can you advocate with our current school while we search?

Yes. That includes drafting communications, attending meetings, completing a documentation review, and advocating for what your child is entitled to at school while we look for the right next placement.

Tell us what is happening.

We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
