Services
One promise, wherever your family starts.
Whether you are searching for a school or seeking a therapeutic placement for your child (or young adult), the work is the same: we find the right fit, and we stay for the whole journey.
Some families come to us with years to plan. Others need a placement this week. We do both.
You’re in the right place if:
-

You're just starting the boarding school search process for your quirky, blue-haired, trombone player with dyslexia who needs advanced physics
-

Your teen or young adult is smoking too much THC or seems addicted to their technology
-

Your child with ADHD needs a classroom that extends beyond four walls
-

Your teen is in the middle of a mental health crisis and is refusing to go to school
-

You've tried everything to help your child on the spectrum navigate life, and you're completely spent
-

Or, your young adult child has tried and failed college, can't keep a job, and still remains dependent on you.
We're here to filter through the noise and pinpoint the opportunities that are right for you.

For as Long as You Need
Some situations are truly urgent, with a tight timeline (24-96 hours). We are here to help your family, even in these moments. When you reach out in a crisis, we take on the heavy lifting of the research and outreach quickly so that you can focus on your family.
We are the right fit for you if:
-

You need help navigating what's next and want to do it with someone who brings joy to the process (and hope when things are hard).
-

You're willing to do your part of the work when it's time. (We can do a lot, but transformational change is a team effort.)
-

You want us to understand your "whole'' child, all of their strengths and the areas that need more scaffolding.
-

You're open to new ideas about how to move forward.
-

You're ready for something new, even if you can't see what it is yet!
-

You're ready to answer hard questions about your child and your family.
Therapeutic Consulting and Placement
Crisis management and acute support
A hospitalization. A relapse. A call from school you were not expecting. When the ground gives way, you need someone who can move today and who will still be here in six months.
This is not the moment to be reading program websites at midnight. We already know the programs and the clinicians who staff them, and we coordinate everyone involved - interventionists, transport, therapists, attorneys, and the school - so your attention can stay on your hurting child and the rest of your family.
Placement
| Who | Children through emerging adults. |
| What | A therapist, a home support team, a neuropsychological evaluation, IOP, PHP, or a residential program - we recommend the options that best fit your child's needs and coordinate them. For children and adolescents, we ensure that your child's academic needs are met alongside their therapeutic ones. This includes special education planning, IEP or 504 support, or determining whether you need a special education attorney. |
| Where | At-home supports, residential treatment centers, nature-based programs, therapeutic boarding schools, young adult transition programs, and programs that specialize in primary addiction - substances, technology, and gambling - or trauma. |
| When | Before your child is in a program, during, and after. We stay on the team. We're on the calls with the therapist and program staff, and we know how your child is progressing.Coming home is where a lot of families lose ground. We start planning for it early: what school looks like, which supports need to be in place, and what has to change at home. If the next step is another program, we brief that team ourselves. You don't have to explain your child from scratch again. We are the bridge from one team to the next. |

-

How-To Guides and Mini Courses
Practical guidance on the parts of the education process families ask about most: how to get a 504 or an IEP, and how to apply for financial aid. Available on their own, no engagement required.
The Space Between
A school search that surfaces a deeper need. A therapeutic placement that ends in a school search. We are one practice with the true expertise to advise the whole continuum.
One Family’s Arc
An adolescent boy came to us after a psychiatric hospitalization. From there: a therapeutic boarding school, and then a traditional boarding school.
This spring he scored a 4 on the AP Physics exam and a 5 on AP Computer Science. He is thriving.
Crisis to therapeutic placement to a school where he could take AP Physics. One firm held all three.
No competitor can tell this story because it takes both kinds of expertise - therapeutic specialists and educators - with decades-long experience in each land.

Frequently Asked Questions
Therapeutic Consulting and Placement
-
With a complimentary conversation. We’ll learn more about you and your family, as well as how you got where you are today. If we’re the right fit, we’ll talk about how to move forward. If we’re not, we’ll point you in the right direction.
-
Some situations run on a 24-to-96-hour timeline, and we can work quickly but thoroughly when needed. The only thing that changes in a crisis is the speed — the work itself is the same.
-
It depends entirely on the client. Nature-based therapy, residential treatment, therapeutic boarding schools, programs treating primary addictions (substances, technology, or gaming), transitional living for young adults, and outpatient support fall in the continuum of what we may recommend. We match to the client's needs rather than to a category.
-
No. We are not clinicians, though we do bring a clinical lens to this work. We are not practicing clinicians and do not provide therapy. We work alongside your child’s treatment team, not in place of it.
-
Yes. Coaching parents is an inherent part of the work, whether they are considering therapeutic resources or placement for their child, or navigating a school search. With young adult clients, we work with both the parents and the young adult, who has agency in their own process. If a family needs stand-alone parent coaching, we refer to trusted colleagues in the field.
-
Yes. Families come to us mid-placement fairly often. We will engage in the discovery process to assess your child’s needs and how the program is addressing them, or not. We will advocate on your child’s behalf to encourage the program to better meet their needs. If the program is unable to, or if it was not a good fit for your child, we will help guide your family to an alternative program that is a better fit.
-
If you have a child or adolescent in residential treatment, school will be a part of their day. The amount of academics depends on the type of program. The program will coordinate academics with your child’s current school. We help with that coordination, including communicating with your child’s school to protect their standing. For young adult clients in residential treatment, school (vocational or college) may be part of their daily schedule as well, depending on their readiness and goals.
-
Sometimes, though, it depends heavily on your district, your documentation, and your child’s situation. We can tell you whether it’s worth pursuing and help you connect with an attorney who can evaluate your case. We’re not attorneys and don’t provide legal representation.
-
Often, a school search and a transition home. We know the schools that can support a child coming out of therapeutic placement, and what they will need to maintain the progress they have made.
Educational Consulting, School Search and Placement
-
Concierge is full service: we do the work with you, from our first conversation through enrollment and ensuring your student has the supports they need. The Workshop is for families who want to drive their own search with our framework and guidance behind them. Workshop content is included for concierge clients.
-
While we can execute a school placement in a very short timeframe (30 days), families have more options when they start earlier. We recommend beginning the search a full year before your anticipated enrollment date, and even longer for students with learning disabilities or other special considerations.
-
No. We help families evaluate public, private, and charter school options, including day schools, boarding schools, therapeutic schools, homeschools, and out-of-the-box programming.
-
It’s most of what we do. Learning differences, neurodivergence, anxiety, students who’ve had a hard year – our goal is always to help you find the right fit for your child.
-
Yes, for concierge clients and VIP Workshop clients. The Workshop teaches you how to do it yourself.
-
Yes. We help you understand what your child’s documentation says and what supports they would be eligible for. We provide you with templates for school outreach and can attend meetings with you to help ensure accommodations are met. In some cases, we refer clients to educational attorneys when the work is beyond the scope of what we can support.
-
The right one won’t. Part of our job is knowing which schools do a really good job of supporting learning differences, where learning differences are not considered a deficit.
-
Yes. That includes drafting communications, attending meetings, completing a documentation review, and advocating for what your child is entitled to at school while we look for the right next placement.
-
Often, a school search and a transition home. We know the schools that can support a child coming out of therapeutic placement, and what they will need to maintain the progress they have made.
Tell us what is happening. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
