I spend about 20% of my time on the road, traveling to boarding schools, day schools, and therapeutic programs. All of this traveling adds up, and in the course of a year I will visit upwards of 100 different schools and programs. Some I love; some, not so much.

In that moment, I heard the tired voices of so many parents who have picked up the phone and called me, exhausted from years of phone calls and appointments and teachers conferences and therapies and interventions and evaluations. They so often feel like they have failed their children because the “results” weren’t what they expected or hoped for.

Some trails are uphill the whole way. So are some seasons of parenting. A reflection on what it means to keep going when you can't see where the path leads, and why it's worth every step.
